Crispy Tawilis Recipe


  • 1 kg tawilis (fresh water sardines)
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

For the Sauce:

  • Vinegar
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • Bird’s eye chili (siling labuyo)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Wash the tawilis in running water to remove dirt and other impurities.
  2. Rub the fish with salt.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the tawilis until crisp.
  4. Make the sauce by mixing the sauce ingredients. Serve with tawilis.
  5. Alternatively, you can skewer the tawilis in bamboo sticks and grill in hot charcoal.
